RIUN GARNER

Known for his emotionally resonant indie folk-rock sound, Garner draws inspiration from a diverse range of music, from early aughts coffee shop rock to modern artists such as The 1975, Soccer Mommy, and Slow Pulp.

Garner's debut EP, All We Know and All We Forget, released in 2020, was recorded using an analog reel-to-reel tape machine, a distinctive analog sound to tracks like “Wrote Myself Off”, which was featured on Spotify's playlist ‘The Most Beautiful Songs in the World’. In 2023, he released his first full-length album, Nice To Meet Ya, showcasing a more mature and upbeat sound that blends analog textures with modern indie rock influences. Album tracks “Loner”, “Nice To Meet Ya”, and “Replace Me” were featured in the NBC comedy Ms. Match, which also starred Garner.

Garner’s film credits also include appearances in Riverdale, Supernatural, and a starring role in the A24 feature film Eternity.

REVIEWS

…It seems as if you’re seated right next to him, at a campfire or on the floor of someone’s dimly lit city apartment, sharing in his heartbreak.
— Sidedoor Mag
...Not only does he have rich lyrics that reach deep into the soul, but he has a knack for lovely song arrangements that cut deep.

...Riun’s journey developing his debut solo album is just as romantic as his emotionally generous music. It’s like the sonic hug we all desperately need right out.
— Citrus Magazine
...Outstanding, young, talented solo artist, comparable with Bon Iver or Vancouver’s Dan Mangan.
— The Vancouver Province Newspaper
...Garner’s songwriting is instinctive and simple, sung with a soft-spoken quality that tells a relatable story.
— Dominionated
...Garner has an almost old and wise personality to his performance; his fragile delivery walks the pace of a man with many more years under his belt. It’s all for the better, as it just adds to the emotion in his voice and as a listener, you feel trust in the words like he’s sharing some deep wisdom.
— Vancouver Weekly
...classic and familiar, yet still fresh. This is a heartfelt and accomplished debut.
